Regional Transportation Plan
PPACG, as the Metropolitan Planning Organization
(MPO) for the Pikes Peak Region, is responsible for conducting and preparing regional transportation plans and programs through a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process.
PPACG is responsible
for preparing a long-range regional transportation plan including transit and highway elements; carrying out short-range transportation planning activities; and prioritizing and approving, through the
transportation improvement program (TIP), expenditure of federal funds for transportation-related projects in the region. In addition to the development of future plans, the program seeks solutions to current traffic congestion problems.
The Transportation Planning Program maintains local government eligibility for federal funding of multi-modal transportation system improvements. The program provides local elected officials with the opportunity to influence decisions of the State Transportation Commission to insure that local needs and objectives are appropriately considered.
