About the PPACG Environmental Program

The Pikes Peak region is home to diverse ecosystems, major national forests and state parks, and five watersheds, making environmental health an important public policy issue.

The governor of Colorado designated PPACG as the regional water quality management agency in 1974 and the regional air quality planning agency in 1978. Since 2001, PPACG has also been working with local communities and other stakeholders to address problems of flooding and erosion in the Fountain Creek Watershed.
