March 23, 2012: Regional Housing Trends

PPACG hosted a housing forum on March 23, 2012, to update the region on Fort Carson growth and deployments and regional housing trends. The forum included presentations from representatives of Fort Carson, the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado, Apartment Realty Advisors, and the Denver Regional Office of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). PPACG provided an update on Fort Carson Soldier and family member growth projections and currently-available deployment information. Industry experts discussed development of housing on-post, off-post community market conditions for multi-family rentals, and an assessment of “shadow market” inventories.

September 30, 2011: Trends in Apartment Rents and Vacancies

A Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan Housing Forum was held on Friday, September 17, 2011 at the PPACG offices. The forum theme was “Trends in Apartment Rents and Vacancies in the Pikes Peak Region and the Present and Future of Mortgage Financing”

Doug Carter of Sperry Van Ness provided some insights into apartment rent and vacancy trends in the Pikes Peak region. Johnson Capital Senior VP Joseph Brill shared his thoughts regarding the present and future of apartment complex financing. George Will of Equity Lending Mortgage discussed single-family mortgage financing. Attendees had the opportunity to engage these speakers as well as a HUD representative in a facilitated panel discussion session.
