Population growth at Fort Carson will affect enrollment in regional school districts, as well as demand for adult education. The Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan will project the demand for education services among three groups: general K-12 schoolchildren, special-needs children, and adults seeking further education and/or job-skills training
K-12 Education
Phase Two of the Growth Plan will leverage survey and interview information to more accurately calculate how general community growth and growth caused by troop increases at Fort Carson will affect school enrollment rates. This will be critically important for school capacity planning purposes.
The Growth Plan will also work closely with military families and service providers to develop a common working definition of “special needs.” This will support the analysis of current and future special-needs capacity in K-12 schools and other special-needs programs.
Adult Education
In addition to the survey, the team will closely coordinate with the Mountain Post Training and Education Center, the Pikes Peak Workforce Center and local higher education institutions to help inform capacity planning for adult education and workforce development.
A K-12 Education Partnership Group and an Adult Education/Workforce Partnership Group meet regularly to help inform this analysis.
