Network of Care for Service Members and Veterans Coming to Colorado

Colorado Springs, CO–The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) is expanding efforts to assist our military community by becoming the first region in Colorado to develop a Network of Care website for Service Members, Veterans & their Families.  “Developing a primary point of entry for behavioral health and social services for active-duty service members, veterans, and family members is one of the highest priority recommendations of the Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan,” said Robert MacDonald, Executive Director of PPACG. “This website is an exciting opportunity to provide valuable information and service linkages for our military community.”  The site is scheduled to launch in spring 2011.

Since 2006, PPACG has worked in close partnership with Fort Carson and other federal, state, and local entities to analyze and prepare for the impacts of Fort Carson growth through the development of the Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan. The Network of Care is a continuing step in implementing the recommendations of the Growth Plan in order to ensure that quality of life for service members, veterans, their families, and the Pikes Peak region as a whole is maintained and enhanced as Fort Carson grows.
The Pikes Peak region offers many great resources for service members.  The Network of Care will help military families more easily find local, state, and national resources to meet their needs.  PPACG will continue to work with Growth Plan stakeholders to develop the Network of Care and provide a valuable resource for the military community in the region.

The Network of Care, developed by Trilogy Integrated Resources, Inc., provides highly interactive information and resources for consumers, local governments, and community-based providers.  Resources include a searchable service directory, links to key websites, a comprehensive library, legislative information, community message boards, and much more.  Network of Care sites have been developed in other states, including California, Maryland, and Oregon.
Since 1967, PPACG has worked to ensure that local governments have a forum to discuss issues that cross their political boundaries, identify shared opportunities and challenges, and develop collaborative strategies for action.
