PPACG Invites Public to Regional Transportation
Goals Workshop; Board Elects Officers

Colorado Springs, CO–The public is invited to a Regional Transportation Goals Workshop on Thursday, January 20th, at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) building. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Parking and entrance are at 14 South Chestnut St. As a state-designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), PPACG is required by federal law to update its regional transportation plan every four years. The planning process will outline transportation policies and prioritize transportation investments to be implemented in the Pikes Peak urbanized area through the year 2035. The previous approved goals and performance measures can be found here.

“Strong public participation is vital to developing the transportation plan for the region,” said PPACG Board Chairperson Sallie Clark, “because it helps determine priorities for intersection improvements, bridge repair, sidewalks, and bike trails for the next twenty-five years.”

During the January meeting, the PPACG Board of Directors elected new executive officers for 2011. El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark will serve as Chairperson. Other officers include El Paso County Commissioner Dennis Hisey (first vice-chair), Colorado Springs City Councilmember Scott Hente (second vice-chair), Teller County Commissioner Jim Ignatius (treasurer), and Green Mountain Falls Mayor Tyler Stevens (secretary).

PPACG is a voluntary association of 16 municipal and county governments serving a regional community. Since 1967, PPACG has worked to ensure that local governments have a forum to discuss issues that cross their political boundaries, identify shared opportunities and challenges, and develop collaborative strategies for action.
