Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) Releases 2011 Annual Report to the Citizens
Colorado Springs, CO–The Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) has released the 2011 Annual Report to the Citizens, highlighting the significant transportation improvements made in the region during 2010. The five member governments—Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, Ramah, and El Paso County—used over $68 million in new revenue on several major construction and design projects, transportation maintenance activities, and regional transit services. These projects were funded by a one-cent sales tax approved by the voters in 2004.
The 2011 annual report may be downloaded here, or members of the public may call Pikes Peak RTA Program/Contracts Manager Rick Sonnenburg at 471-7080, extension 138 or email him at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. PPRTA is a successful collaboration of five member communities supported by a 2004 voter-approved one-percent sales tax and administered by the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments. The PPRTA provides local funding for road improvements, maintenance, and public transportation projects throughout the Pikes Peak RTA area, including El Paso County, Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, and Ramah. The 17-member Citizens Advisory Committee helps to prioritize transportation needs throughout the area and advises elected officials from the five governmental entities who serve on the PPRTA Board of Directors.
