PPACG releases specialized transit plan for public review

Colorado Springs, CO – The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) Board of Directors approved release of the DRAFT 2035 Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan Update for public review. The draft plan is available on the PPACG website (www.ppacg.org). Public comments are accepted through the website and at a public meeting at 4:00 p.m. on December 1, 2011, at the PPACG building (14 South Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80905).

This plan allows human services transportation providers to apply for federal funds to provide transportation to those who have transportation disadvantages. For transportation providers to be eligible to receive these funds, a locally developed, coordinated human services transportation plan must be prepared. Human services transportation refers to specialized transportation services provided to people who have transportation disadvantages: elderly persons, persons with disabilities, low income, and persons with other special transportation needs.

The public comment period ends on December 10, 2011. Please send all questions and comments to Lisa Thomas at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 719-471-7080 ext. 114. After the public comment period, the PPACG Board of Directors will be asked to approve the final 2035 Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan Update.

PPACG serves as the state-designated Area Agency on Aging for El Paso, Park and Teller counties. The agency administers programs and services funded through the federal Older Americans Act and the State of Colorado to give older adults what they most desire—the ability to live independently in their own homes and avoid costly institutionalization.
