The census gives our community the opportunity to be an active part of the democratic process. Population data provided by the decennial census ensures that our representative districts reflect our numbers.
In December 1975, Congress enacted Public Law (P.L.) 94-171, requiring the U.S. Census Bureau to provide state legislatures with the small area census population tabulations necessary for legislative redistricting. As the designated regional repository for data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Colorado Demography Office, PPACG assumes an active role in ensuring that changes made to legislative districts accurately reflect the population of the communities we serve.
