In preparation for the 2019 Medicare Open Enrollment Period that will begin October 15, 2018, the PPACG Area Agency on Aging and PPLD have teamed up to offer Medicare 101 classes at various PPLD locations in the Colorado Springs region. In addition to the Open Enrollment Period coming in October, baby boomers are now experiencing a continual need for correct, accurate information as people transition from employment into active retirement. The Area Agency on Aging has been at the forefront of this emerging boom to provide up to date, current insurance information. Counselors are trained experts who do not sell or endorse any insurance products.
The partnership between the two organizations is a natural as both organizations specialize in providing resources for the region and have done so for over 50 years.

About the PPACG Area Agency on Aging
The mission of the PPACG Area Agency on Aging is to help older adults by providing services and supports that enable them to remain as independent as possible in their homes and communities. Our State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors are able to help older adults toward that goal during the Medicare Open Enrollment period. By assisting Medicare beneficiaries through the many options available, our SHIP counselors can help beneficiaries save money that can then be brought to bear on other critical expenses, such as housing, food and transportation.
About the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments
The Pikes Peak region’s 16 local governments join together in PPA CG to collaborate on issues that cross political boundaries and to reach solutions that benefit the entire region. PPACG administers the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority and provides direct services to citizens through the PPACG Area Agency on Aging and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. PPACG is also the region’s designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation and its air- and water-quality lead planning agency.
