Small Area Forecast-2035

Print PDF

Every four years, PPACG performs a growth allocation process known as the small area forecast. The forecast uses population and employment projections prepared by the Colorado State Demographer for El Paso and Teller counties and divides them into 737 small geographic areas called traffic analysis zones (TAZs). These estimates are used to produce future traffic volume projections for the region’s transportation network and to prepare other parts of the Regional Transportation Plan.

PPACG staff, with the close involvement of technical staff from its member governments and economic and community development organizations, have developed a draft 2035 Small Area Forecast. This forecast is based on a philosophy of encouraging infill and giving consideration for protecting critical environmental habitats.

The 2035 Small Area Forecast was presented for comment from July 22 through September 5, 2011. The links below show existing (2010) population and employment numbers and densities and 2035 projections.
