Older adults and other individuals interested in learning more about Medicare can register for free webinars offered in the month of August by the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging. The Four-Part Medicare 101 series, offered in partnership with the Pikes Peak Library District, will take place on the first four Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
The four-part Medicare 101 series goes beyond the basics into Medicare and retirement. This series is designed to provide information to guide and support individuals as they make important health care decisions that impact the rest of their lives. The series is presented by the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging’s Senior Insurance Assistance department, the State Health Insurance Program, a federally and state funded program that provides free and unbiased information and education by counselors that have been trained and certified by Medicare and the Colorado Division of Insurance. SHIP counselors do not sell or endorse any insurance products or companies.
The four webinars topics are:
- Aug. 3: Medicare Eligibility and Coverage (Part A/B)
- Aug. 10: Medicare Options: Medigap and Medicare Advantage Plans
- Aug. 17: Medicare Part D
- Aug. 24: Medicare, Medicaid, and Other Health Insurance Options – What you need to know

The mission of the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging is to help older adults by providing services and supports that enable them to remain as independent as possible in their homes and communities. The PPAAA provides resources for insurance assistance and information, caregiver support, mobility coordination and the ombudsman program for residents in long-term care facilities.
