This presentation will provide an overview of all things ‘Medicare’, covering the basics of eligibility and enrolling in Medicare A, B and D, as well as the costs, benefits, and explanation of the differences between Medigap and Medicare Advantage Plans.
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program is a nation-wide, federally funded program that provides unbiased education and counseling on Medicare and all related coverages, Long Term Care insurance and Adult Medicaid programs. The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program educates and empowers consumers to recognize and report suspected Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse.
Roma Costanza is a Colorado Springs native that has been assisting consumers as a certified State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Counselor and Program Coordinator for a nine-county region of Colorado for over 23 years. She is contracted as the Colorado state Medicare Subject Matter Expert and trainer for Colorado SHIP counselors for the Division of Insurance. She started her career with the non-profit Senior Insurance Assistance, Inc. in 2000, which became part of the PPACG Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging in 2008. At the Area Agency on Aging, she has held many roles in addition to SHIP counseling including case management, volunteer coordination, publication management and Medicare Specialist. She has also managed the publication Colorado Adult Medicaid Programs and Veterans Benefits booklet that is distributed state-wide for the last 7 years
