The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments mourns the lives lost this weekend in an attack at Club Q, a safe gathering space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community who we call our families, friends, neighbors and colleagues. We praise the patrons who acted quickly to subdue the suspect and put their own lives at risk to prevent additional injuries and deaths, and the quick response by the Colorado Springs police and fire departments to take the suspect into custody and begin the treatment and transport of the injured. We condemn the violence and hate that led to this attack, and join with our impacted member governments, the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County, in offering condolences and support to the families and friends of the victims.
For additional information on community resources, designated funds to support victims and their families, and law enforcement updates, visit this website established by the City of Colorado Springs. The Colorado Healing Fund has been activated to support the immediate and long-term needs of the victims, and donations can be made online.
